This set is just awesome but it could've been a whole lot better. For starters, the spartan helmet (which is perfectly wearable) comes in a kind of odd colour which should probably be described as something of an brownish army green (the colour in the photos is pretty accurate and as you can see it's nowhere near as golden or bronz like as the preview pictures on the box would have you believe).
The helmet is made out of a hard resin type material (Yeah, I really don't know, I'm just guessing) and feels quite heavy and realistic. It's pretty much like very thick rubber so it's slightly flexible, kind of like you'd expect a movie "stunt helmet" to feel like.
For some bizarre reason the inside has a slightly purple tone which looks a bit weird but once you're wearing it you can't really tell (and when it sits on the shelf, the colouring is rather hard to see as well as it gets quite dark in there).
There are a couple of rubber pieces glued to the inside which I'm assuming are put in to make the helmet stay in one place or something but in my opinion they probably could have skipped the pieces on the sides as these don't seem to really do anything and don't look particularly good either.
Last but not least, this edition comes with an absolutely gorgeous steelbook which has got some exclusive cover art in comparison to the regular steelbook edition found in Spain. The same artwork can be found on a couple of other steelbook releases around the world but is not to common overall.
The special features are very well made and cover a lot of ground in the time they have. Of course, one would love to see more but it's still comes through as a pretty decent special edition. Granted there's a lot of footage that keeps coming back through out the various featurettes but on the whole it's still pretty informative.
All 2 disc editions of this film appear to be identical as far as the extras go and there's really nothing to make the Spanish edition stand out above the rest.
All the menus are in english.
On disc 1, go to the special features and highlight the audio commentary. Now press up to highlight a red blood spatter marker. Press enter to see a short featurette about how they translated the graphic novel into film. This clip also shows some original test footage that was used to help get the project off the ground when it was still uncertain if the film would be made or not.
The big cardboard box has the exact same barcode as the steelbook.
The discs are encoded R2/R4/R5.
There is an identical "full scale helmet" edition released in germany but this seems to be the only other country where this limited edition is available. However, there 's still a large number of other limited editions released around the world for this film.
