Packaging / Design

As simple as this case may feel today - what with Alien Heads and Miniture Zip-up Jackets invading the market - I must say that criterion has one of the most genuine styles ever seen on the dvd market. This set comes with a black double alpha case (like a lot of other Criterion titles) featuring artwork by Ralph Steadman. On top of this, is a simple, yet ingenious clear plastic slipcase with black and red writing on it. Now, I'm a big fan of plastic slips and even though this was one of the earliest I purchased it still holds up as one of the coolest (if not THE coolest) slipcase I've seen so far.

Disc contents / Extras

Extras are plentiful for this classic film and I must say Criterion's done a great job compiling all these goodies. It's a very mixed bag featuring both old and new stuff (timewise), which gives us the best of both worlds as we get a deep insight into both the world of the film as well as the world of the novell and it's peculiar author.

The main menus shows an original drawing of the films main title logo (as it's being drawn) and this thing just feels like such a cool choice for a menu that I had to bring it up.

And as usual when it comes to a Gilliam film, some of the best commentaries money can buy.

hello discjunkie :-)

just recently discovered your youtube channel and I think it's pretty awsome and a lot of fun

I am a young filmmaker (just graduated from the academy of dramatic arts) from croatia and also a sort of a movie collector but I'm more into special features from movies rather than packaging

(I have a lot of keep cases- I know you don't care for them:-) but I love movies just as well

enyway - just wanted to say hey and keep up the god work!

btw - just made a 45min. horror movie that I think you would like, since you love Texas chainsaw massacre (It's one of my favourite horror movies also)

In your own words - hope to see you next time!
