When it comes to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre there's just no end to the countless issues, re-issues, anniversary editions and continously fresh takes on how to package this one of a kind horror classic. This Thailand release doesn't pack a punch like most of the anniverary editions and quite frankly it doesn't seem to have been marketed in any kind of special way...
... but on the other hand why should it? The packaging is nothing but a keepcase in a slipcase but at the same time the cover art really caught my eye as it's one of the few completely unique and unused designs I've seen for a long long time. And I like it. I don't know what it is but to me it just looks weird. It's almost like an ad for toys or something. The chainsaw inspires little fear even if it's shown sawing the thai translation in half and overall it's just a very odd blend of styles.
The cartoonish and painted characters look ugly and awesome at the same time and some of the details have even been embossed. The keepcase comes with exactly the same artwork as the outer sleeve but considering the price tag I certainly didn't expect anything else.
But that's it, yet another release on the shelf and defenitely one of the strangest cover designs I've seen in a while so I'm happy.
