Just a regular steelbook but a nice one none the less. The colours feel shimmering and well done. My only concern about the casing is the fact that the inside artwork is actually a preview for the upcoming sequal (Sympathy For) Lady Vengeance and not for OldBoy. This feels a bit wrong just going by my standard opinion but as it's not made as a big splashy commercial spot, it does feel like an okay touch.
This 2-disc set seems almost completely identical to the Tartan Collector's Edition. It comes with all the same features apart from Tartan's exclusive director interview.
Instead, it replaces the Tartan Exclusive interview with another exclusive interview (this one preformed at the 2005 Stockholm Film Festival). Unfortunetaly (for non-Swedes) the extra interview comes with optional Swedish subtitles ONLY.
The commentary tracks and other extras all come with the same ENGLISH subs as the Tartan edition does (they are most likely a direct transfer from the same source).
It should also be clearly noted that THE MAIN FEATURE COMES WITH OPTIONAL ENGLISH SUBTITLES (!!!) even if this is not stated on the outer box. The Tartan Collector's Edition might have a slight upper hand for the English-speaking crowd as there bonus interview comes with english subtitles. But I still give this edition the higher score as it adds the feature of scandinavian subtitles for the film (which I personally value at a slightely higher level this time around).
The cover doesn't state anything about english subtitles but they're availble on both the film and all but one of the extras.
