Packaging / Design
I'm not overly positiv about the oversized edition collector label smacked at the top of the cover but artwork is fine if you cross this out.
As for the digipack itself I think the inside is a nice touch, but the outside could have been better (they could have gone for some alternate images instead of just replicating the digipack, don't you think?).
Disc contents / Extras
The movie discs starts off with 2 start-up trailers but once yous skip past these things start looking pretty good.
We get an automatic choice of either english or french menus (but only on the first disc, the second disc has french menus only) and they're nicely animated as well. Disc 1 has no extras but the main feature comes with both english and french subs.
Looking at disc 2 I'm pleasently surprised when I find the full lenth feature film once more, only this time, it comes with a forced commentary track by director Spike Lee (only french subs but they're optional). I agree it's an odd choice to include an audio commentary in this way but I'm glad either way.
Moving on we get the 5 deleted scenes, followed byt a 10 min making of. And last but not least there's something called Number 4, refering to this film being the fourth collaboration between director Spike Lee and actor Denzel Washington. This featurette runs for around 10 min and it's basically a heart-warming little conversation between Spike and Denzel, talking about the work they've done together.
All in all, this set seems very identical to the R1 (not counting start-up trailers and secondary audio tracks).
Sidenotes
I'm not entirely sure but I'm guessing that this digipack might be a first pressing only. Time will tell.
